Many reasons exist for wanting to create a buffer zone around Camp.  The greatest reason is for the safety of campers and school children that come to Id-Ra-Ha-Je year round.  The tragedy at Platte Canyon High School in Bailey taught us a valuable lesson in the area of safety.  Camp has some wonderful neighbors; however, having full time staff live in the homes that surround Camp creates a more manageable boundary to monitor.  Out of courtesy for our neighbors on the northwest section of Camp, we now limit our circle drive road behind their home to foot traffic and occasional maintenance vehicles. Having this road open would be a great convenience to Camp plus it will reduce the number of neighbors who may be concerned about noisy children.

The property consists of a 2,704 square foot home on 7.8 acres. It has 7 rooms total, 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and an attached 2 car garage. The 7.8 acre lot has been zoned into 3 separate lots: the home sits on a .9 acre lot, lot number 2 is 2.14 acres, and lot number 3 is 4.75 acres. In addition, here is an outstanding well on the property which could possibly be added into the Camp water system.

The current owners love Camp Id-Ra-Ha-Je, and they really want to see Camp get the property. They had previously offered the sell of their home to Camp with no realtor fees for $500,000. They are now offering it for $450,000.

In addition to the home that is included in the purchase, there are two lots that have already been zoned for future building sites.  If someone else buys this property, there would be a great chance that they would build two additional homes, which not only adds more neighbors, but also makes it that much more costly if Camp would want to purchase the homes in the future.

When an individual or a couple and their family decide to become full-time missionaries at Camp Id-Ra-Ha-Je, they are required to raise their own personal support. As you can imagine, not having a house payment is a great blessing which really helps with their decision to join this ministry. This property would provide one house now, and potentially, two more staff houses on the vacant lots.
