If a suit is deemed to be inappropriate, camper will not be allowed to swim.

WHAT NOT TO BRING:

  • Radios
  • Electronic games
  • Walkmans
  • Tape players
  • CD players
  • MP3 players or iPods
  • Knives
  • Cell phones
  • Televisions
  • Skateboards
  • Skates

Alcohol, cigarettes, tobacco and other drugs are prohibited.
Failure to comply with this policy is grounds for being sent home.

TEPEE AND NARROW WAY:

Be sure bedding or sleeping bag is warm.  Night temperatures in the mountains can get quite cool, especially when it has been raining.  It is highly recommended that you pack belongings in a waterproof container (a Rubbermaid bin, for example).  Rain gear is a must.  Extra shoes and plenty of dry socks are very important. And remember that almost all activities are outdoors, in all weather.

SPENDING MONEY:

Pop, candy, T-shirts and other items can be purchased at the General Store ($.75 to $40) and Sweet Shop daily (a $1.20/day limit on candy).  Projects may be purchased at Arts & Crafts and the Pottery Shop ($.25 to $16).

CAMP BANK:

At Mountain Village, Pioneer Camp and Tepee, camper’s money is put into a “bank”.  This money is available to campers during free time and at missions time.  This service is also available to Aspen View and High School campers who are encouraged to use it.

MISSIONARY OFFERING:

A voluntary Missionary Offering is taken daily to help the week’s speaker.  Giving in this way is encouraged, and you may wish to discuss a designated amount from your child’s spending money before your arrival at Camp.

TRAIL RIDES:

Rides are $15 for each ½ hour ride and will be paid for during Sunday afternoon check-in.  Pioneer Campers will be able to take Arena Rides for $10 for a ½ hour ride. Time slots will not be assigned until Sunday evening, after all campers have arrived.  Riders must wear long pants and shoes that cover the entire foot.  Helmet will be provided by Camp.  Refunds will be given only in the event of inclement weather.

MEDICATIONS:

All medications, including prescription, over-the-counter, vitamins, homeopathics and herbs must have a physician’s prescription.  Have your doctor fill out and sign our 2008 Medication Form. We cannot distribute these items without this prescription. All items must be turned in to the Camp nurse at check-in.  They must be in their original packaging, labeled with camper’s name, name of medication and correct dosage prior to arrival.  We maintain an ample supply of common over-the-counter medications (Tylenol, Benadryl, Ibuprofen, Sudafed, etc.) along with first-aid kits.  Please do not send these items with your child unless he/she has an allergy to common medications.  All cuts, scrapes and bumps must be reported and treated by the nurse.  Campers may not attend their own injuries.

SPECIAL DIETARY NEEDS:

If your child has food allergies or special needs, please call our Food Service Manager (303-838-5668), at least two weeks prior to attending.  If the kitchen is not contacted prior to your child’s stay, it may be impossible to accommodate your request.

Necessary Information During Camper's Stay:

BUNKMATE ASSIGNMENTS:

Bunkmate assignments are not made until after arrival at the child’s individual camp.  If a camper desires to bunk with more than 2 or 3 friends, please arrange to arrive early for check-in, as cabins and tepees fill up quickly, and state law restricts the numbers per cabin or tepee.  We will do our best to accommodate your request at that time.

TELEPHONE CALLS:

Since there are no public phones at the individual facilities, campers cannot be contacted directly by phone.  Messages can be left for campers at our office (303-838-5668) between 8 am and 5 pm weekdays.  Voice mail is checked frequently during evenings, and delivered to campers the following day.

WRITING TO CAMPERS:

When writing to your camper, please include his/her full name, the camp and week number (e.g.: Sarah Smith MV#3) on the envelope.  Mail to: Camp Id-Ra-Ha-Je, PO Box 360, Bailey CO 80421. Do not mail later than Tuesday to ensure delivery.

EMAILING/FAXING YOUR CAMPER:

While letters may be faxed (303-838-9109) to campers, emails (campers@idrahaje.org) are preferable.  Please include camper’s full name, camp and week number (i.e., Sarah Smith MV#3) in the subject line.  Every attempt will be made to deliver any letter with incomplete information, but there is no guarantee!  Please send your emails prior to noon on Friday to ensure delivery.  Please note that due to time constraints and virus protection, e-cards and attachments will not be opened or delivered.

CAMP DVD:

Each week of summer camp, our video staff records your camper’s experiences. A DVD of these recordings will be distributed for each camper before they leave on Saturday. New this year: every camper will receive a free DVD.
